Scuba Diving Belize

scuba
Chris Chew asked:

Belize have the longest barrier reef in the Northern Hemisphere and offers a combination of gentle inshore scuba diving and some more adventurous oceanic dive sites for the experienced divers. Belize offers scuba divers with a heady concoction of reef, wall, cavern and cay diving experiences.

Belize had a history of swashbuckling buccaneering in days gone by. Back then, there were regular pirate attacks on Spanish treasure ships. Now, it is a peaceful little city on the Caribbean coast of Central America.

Belize is a popular diving destination because of its long barrier reef which offers an array of diving experiences for all levels of scuba diving proficiency, from the novice beginners to the experienced veteran divers.

The barrier reef is about 174 miles or 280 km long extending all the way along the coast of the Yucatan Peninsular in the north to Honduras in the south. In this way, the reef actually creates a true barrier between the ocean and the coast thus providing calm waters to scuba dive in.

There are also numerous islands dotting the reef which are called cays or cayes in this part of the world. In the south eastern part of the reef, there is a large depression in the ocean floor of the Caribbean Sea and this created 3 atolls called Glovers, Turneffe and Lighthouse. The atolls sit on two parallel ridges unlike the atolls of the Pacific, which grew out of volcanoes.

These atolls rise close enough to the surface to allow sunlight penetration causing massive coral and sponge growths. It is therefore not surprising the Belize barrier reef is declared as a world heritage and is the subject of intense conservation and protection.

Coral reefs in the Caribbean seas have a character of their own in that they do not have the very diverse system of the Indo Pacific reefs. However, they lay claim to beautiful individual corals and sponges. The sponges are some of the most colorful to be found anywhere in the world. Some of the sponges are more than a century old and can measure up to an awesome 6 ft or 2 m across.

Perhaps, the main attraction for scuba diving in Belize is the contrast of its marine habitats ranging from bustling coral communities on gentle sandy slopes to steep drop offs with huge pelagic fishes and sharks.

Scuba divers will find smaller coral communities in inshore reefs. These inshore reefs are home to about 500 species of fish including the 5 separate species of butterfly fish. It is here that encounters with larger marine animals such as the manatees, whale shark, jewfish, manta rays are common occurrences.

Do include Belize in your scuba diving itinerary.

Career In Scuba Diving: Your Future Being A Dive Instructor

scuba diving
Clive Jenkins asked:

Scuba Divers are made of many people that are tired of the usual tedious workday, followed by the nerve-racking task of driving; add all the noise pollution it instigates. That’s before everything else scuba divers encounter in these fast paced times outside of scuba diving.

Some scuba divers go even further by finding a career in scuba diving. Some become diving instructors themselves. They find their career in scuba diving rejuvenating compared to many other choices.

Scuba diving doesn’t usually start there though. It usually starts where many other’s scuba diving began; with the open water course. Then they move onto the advanced course and learn much more and realize they really enjoy all that scuba diving has to offer. They see diving underwater in a whole new way, and really want to share that with others as well. Often this leads them to work towards a career in scuba diving instruction.

It’s not all simple courses and then going to work with your new career in scuba diving. You need to be a master at it. This of course means a lot of diving time in a variety of situations and an instructor or more. You need to know how to dive and survive well. With that, as a scuba diving instructor you will be able to bring others up to scuba diving. You need to know what they have to, to dive safely. This is quite a worthy career!

Many look up to the diving instructor assuming they know it all about scuba diving. Since the potential to inspire them can be great or potentially heartbreaking, you really do need to know anything they need to know, and more! When you don’t, you need to admit that as well! If your journey is endlessly learning more when diving in many situations, you should seriously consider a career in scuba diving as an instructor.

Though also consider that you need to deal with people, and follow timelines. You need to be able to teach your students in a short time, how to remain safe and alive when scuba diving. This is quite a responsibility. If you feel this is for you, it’s time we look further towards your career in scuba diving instruction.

To become a diving instructor you must first be a Dive master. With that out of the way, then you have to take the Instructor Development Course (PADI IDC). This extensive course will take you deeper into diving than you have been. It will educate you on diving standards, safety, students, the PADI system, and relevant law. To be all you can be you will definitely want to master every bit of it. That way when you begin your career in scuba diving instruction, you will be well versed from the start. Of course beyond that, experience will follow that will truly make you a complete export in your craft.

As with anything these days, while working on your career in scuba diving, you can expect much product marketing information, as well as sales literature too. While it’s not wise to buy everything, you should understand the market, as it does affect your students as well.

Real Housewife Vlog: On Scuba Diving

TheFamousStacie asked:

Scuba isn’t what I thought it would be!

What do you think of this concept for a building?

dive watch
I Know Nuttin asked:

Shaped like a cone with a circular base, seven stories high.
The bottom floor would be shops and offices, with a round swimming pool in the center. The inner circle of the swimming pool would be roped off so that people could jump into it from the high dive on the 6th floor. This high dive would allow people to watch the glass elevators go up and down during their descent.

The second floor would be several large bars and clubs.

The third floor would be more laid-back VIP lounges and/or private clubs.

The fourth, fifth and sixth floors would be apartments/condos. The sixth floor would be the penthouse apartment with a false “tip”, so that people believe it’s the top floor. It could have a good-sized outdoor deck.

The seventh floor would be a secret.

There would also be tuning forks outside. They would ring when it rains or if there is high wind.

–==DeViL’s_AnGeL==– asked:

What is the song that “Eric Nox” dances to? He dances twice in the movie, once in his house (which is the Marvin Gaye song,) and the other time is in the fortress that the angels get to by scuba diving from Chad’s boat. Does anyone know that song??? PLEASE???
I have searched for the soundtrack listings and it doesnt seem to be on there.
If anyone has the movie, maybe they could watch the credits and find out what song it is???
thanks for your help.

How many people actually get attacked or killed by sharks when they INTENTIONALLY dive with them?

dive watch
Omegazen asked:

So I just got done watching Shark Week and I was wondering about those idiots who feel like they must free-dive with great white sharks. I’m not sure what exactly they are trying to prove, I mean a shark does not want to bond or make friends, it just swims and eats right? So it got me thinkin, how many people actually get attacked or killed by sharks when they INTENTIONALLY dive with them, either in cages or free dive?
